A group of highly accomplished industry leaders and successful entrepreneurs (mostly from the Silicon Valley of California) have come together to build a profitable business with social objectives. The business proposition is very compelling but equally compelling is the cause for coupling such an endeavour with a social cause.
The business model envisions a sharp focus on building skill-sets and capabilities of deserving young people; and providing them with employment, thereby also fostering a vibrant local economy. This responsible endeavour - christened as PeopleShores, is making a serious business case for US corporations to engage it in managing their core business processes.
PeopleShores is a social enterprise with the objective of bringing technology oriented careers to the shores of economically challenged communities in the US through Impact Sourcing. Impact Sourcing, also known as socially responsible outsourcing, refers to an arm of the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry that employs people at the base of the economic pyramid as workers. The goal is to empower young adults and members of these communities by developing, honing and enhancing their professional skills; and offering them employment and a clear-cut career path. This goal is achieved through the establishment of technology and technology-enabled service centres to be setup in the inner cities and hinterlands of the US. To that extent, PeopleShores seeks to serve unemployed youth, army veterans, native Indian Americans; and homeless adults. PeopleShores employs a robust business model with emphasis on sustainability, scalability and security (data), while also delivering quality and cost advantages to its clients.
